Notes on Faulkner's Light in August There were three ML versions of Light in August. Version 1 in 1950 had an introduction by Richard Rovere and 444 pages. Version 2, also with 444 pages, came out in 1963 without the Rovere introduction. Version 3 appeared in 1965 with 480 pages adding a drawing to the title page plus short bio at the end of the volume. This was the year that the ML began printing from offset plates that were photographically reproduced from the first printing published by Smith & Haas in 1932. The first edition dust jacket came with grey highlights. Subsequent editions lost this highlighting.
