Notes on Santayana's Philosophy The Toledano numbering for this title is curious. Since typically Toledano numbers go in strict date order, you'd expect this number, 224.2, to have a date later than 224.1, 18th Century Plays. But that title entered the series in 1952, whereas Santayana was first published by Modern Library in 1942.
